Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Pretty good
Fun, interesting series with likable characters (or at least likable brothers). The Sons of Destiny live in a magic dominate world and when a seer makes a prediction about eight brothers (four sets of twins) that will bring about disaster, the people of their world decide to exile them to their own island alone. Since the prediction seems to be largely based on the fact that they will meet their true loves, the council believes if the keep them exiled and not allowed any women near them they they can prevent the disaster from ever happening. They don't even think about "trying" to kill them since the brothers are the strongest thing around magically, but it doesn't stop some people from covertly sending dangerous magical creatures to take them out.

The island alone doesn't keep women off the island either, apparently. It the first book, Kelly is brought through magically from Earth, and in this novel, an old childhood friend runs away from home to find Wolfer (I hate this character name, by the way).

I gave this book three stars instead of five because I didn't think it had as much action or creativity in this one as much as the first. Second of all, Kelly (from the first book) is absolutely annoying! She is bossy, controlling, and completely stuck on herself. Is Johnson attempting to try to make her witty? Or is the character purposely that dumb sounding? The whole kung fu thing was ridiculous and could have been cut from the book. I mean, really, what was the purpose of all that anyway? I felt as if I was in the middle of a geek fest. Lastly, the scene with the whore who spends two hours giving Alys sex advice could have been cut, too. Alys is 24 years old and had been exposed to sex already. We/she didn't need the advice of a prostitute. I still plan to read the next one. The Master is suppose to take place in another culture so I'm hoping that Kelly will not be part of that story and I will get to enjoy the book more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A must read for all fans of Fantasy Romances
Alys flees from her uncle's stronghold where she was held captive to the Isle of Nightfall, where she meets her closest childhood friend Wolfer again. Both of them harbour deep feelings for each other, but each of them has to overcome a huge obstacle before they can enjoy the special bond between them. Wolfer worries about the prophecy and Alys has the dark secret that her own uncle is behind the torment of the eight brothers. Will they find a way to help the brothers and his new sister-in-law, Kelly, to overcome all those problems and to find a happy ending for Alys and Wolfer?

Ms. Johnson continues with THE WOLF the wonderful saga that started with THE SWORD. This book reveals even more about the life and problems of the eight brothers and the reader is absolutely captivated by these fascinating characters. There is never a moment in this book where you think that the plot is getting slow, because you are so drawn into the story that you can't stop reading. This reviewer was sad when she reached the end, because she needs to know what happens next...

It's fun to see how the characters develop in this story, especially the changes that Alys undergo as soon as Kelly takes her under her wings. There are funny, sensual and dramatic moments in THE WOLF, that makes this book a real keeper.

THE WOLF continues where THE SWORD ended so this reviewer highly recommends reading THE SWORD prior reading THE WOLF. And I have to tell you the whole series is addictive, you won't get enough of these brothers. Altogether this reviewer highly recommends the Sons of Destiny series to all fans of romantic fantasy. Ms. Johnson is a rising star in this genre and you definitely will want to keep an eye on her.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Must buy!
This is the second book in a new 8 book series and a must buy. I loved the book and can't wait for the other six books. I normally don't buy the oversized books but I am glad I made exception in this case.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Johnson has done it again!
Just as good as The Sword if not better because you know the characters even before getting started. She's consistent with her descriptive quality of writing, a quality that is imperative to any kind of fantasy or historical writing in order for the reader to have a good 'image' of the characters and the setting of the story. My only complaint . . . having to wait for the next book in the series!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wolf can stay at my house any time!
I tell you Jean Johnson has some imagination and can really open up your mind and pull you into her stories with characters to fall in love with and cheer for. Your hear races and you want to protect them and you cant help but stay up nights because you cant put them down. The only dissapointment in these books is that they end and arent long enough. The good thing is I will have 6 more books to look forward to. I dont know what I am going to do when the last one is done. Be sure to read them in order. I am suprised that there are any of Jean Johnsons books available on Amazon at all. I already have the third one paid for and it is not even out yet. I can sit here right now and imagine what these characters are doing right now just waiting for Jean to record their antics.
