Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Practical text book for diagnostic microbiology
I really think this is a great book. I am a medical doctor who wants to finish her specialisation in virology, microbiology and environmental hygiene. This book really covers the practical techniques to identify different microorganisms. You finally understand which steps are taken, the flow-charts are excellent. I have not found a similar book in the German literature.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Up-to-date micro for the MLT student
The hospital where my wife is doing MLT clinicals had this book. She was so impressed with it, she wanted one of her own. It is up-to-date with many color and B/W pictures of the most recent micro technologies and procedures. East to read and understand.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What?
This book is very hard to understand. It is not written for the average student.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The book that you want
Although this book is not as comprehensive as Manual of clinical microbiology edited by Murray, it is an excellent textbook for the beginner in the field of microbiology. The color photographies are in good quality and numerous, which are wonderful tools for the readers. In general, I recommand this book should be buy by any one who has interest in the microbiology.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mahon and Manuselis - the best of both worlds
I was so pleased to find the second edition of Mahon and Manuselis because it addresses weaknesses of other texts we have used recently with senior level clinical laboratory science students. M & M find a good balance between an organism oriented approach and a body site/culture type orientation. We found the 10th ed of Bailey and Scott's text to be strong in the latter but not the former while Koneman is the reverse, and far too research oriented for this level of student. The book reads ...
