The premis of the story line is a little dry, but it follows a logical path that takes you beyond the school/clinical education you recive as a emt-b. It is full of "pearls" that come in handy. Don't be discouraged about the book being published too long ago. The assessment skills are timeless. It really will teach you how to do a through and rapid assessment and often make a diagnosis within minutes. I have been trying to find more books like this, and have yet to find any as educational.
