Editorial Review:

Product Description:
More than 30 years after it was first diagnosed, Lyme disease remains one of our most misunderstood illnesses. This frequently misdiagnosed infection is spreading at an alarming rate and, if not treated early, can cause debilitating symptoms. More than 1.7 million people in the United States, and others in Europe and Asia, currently have Lyme and are unaware or can't find the right treatment. Finally, Beating Lyme offers those who struggle with it the guidance to get the help they need. A respected health author and educator, Constance Bean is an authority on this elusive illness. In 1993 she was diagnosed with Lyme and has spent the past 14 years, along with Dr. Sam Donta, researching its treatments and diagnoses. In Beating Lyme readers will find comforting, hard-won advice on such topics as:

what Lyme is and how to recognize the symptoms * what to do after a tick bite * how to protect family and friends * how to get the best treatment and what to do if insurance won't cover it * living with long-term Lyme disease. Compassionate and thoroughly researched, this is a book that will help doctors and patients understand and conquer this complex illness.

Finally, I found a book on Lyme disease that tells me what I need to know in an easy to read and helpful format. This well written book is approximately 286 pages complete with chapter notes, an appendix on symptoms, contact resource information, and an in-depth index. The authors discuss cause, testing, diagnosis, and effective medical treatment of this difficult disease. After reading the book I am now armed with information on prevention and treatment of Lyme disease. I am also alerted to the possible ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Please Tell Me Why????
I have not yet had the opportunity to read this book but I have sent for it and it is on it's way. Due to the many positive reviews and comments, I am very much looking forward to reading it. I am a lyme disease patient and activist and cannot count the number of people who have asked me WHY.....why can't we get treatment? Why are doctors being persecuted? Why is there such a disagreement concerning the treatment of Lyme disease? I don't believe there is just one answer to these questions. The problem is multifactoral ... Read More
