Most of us start searching for a source to read as anxiety builds up. Everybody suggests Marino's "The ICU Book", which is OK, but needs time and it is not well balanced. This small book is a great source. You can quickly read it and refresh your knowledge before starting your rotation. As a transitional resident, I had no interest in reading the Marino ICU book (which was in need of some updating). Of course this isn't a textbook which will tell you everything but a very helpful guide to be carrying along as a med student or junior resident rotating in the icu or internal medicine rotation. good bang for your buck
